Dan Groll told me about this lounge/reading room in the Div School. I spent a pleasant afternoon in here reading for the philosophy of mind workshop. There were some Div school students hanging out in the room, but the layout of the room isn't really conducive to serious hanging out. It's more a place to read the paper and maybe take a nap.
I'm warming up to the new department lounge, even though it's lack of windows is a serious flaw, and I know it will feel more claustrophobic when the weather gets nice. Part of what's nice about it is that it can be turned into a grad-students-only bunker when the doors are shut.
The new lounge is obviously still not nearly as fun as the old
Anscombe Lounge, which was always unbelievably messy and eveything was covered in dust. And people would smoke in there.
