Minding the GAP

Some people got stuck in the elevator at the Michigan Avenue GAP yesterday. The Chicago Fire Department came to rescue them.

Did you see the people when they were released? How long were they trapped inside for? When they came out, did the elevator stink?

I saw the people--the group included a couple little kids, who were pretty distraught. I don't know how long they were in there. Probably not too long.

The elevator in Ben's building has stern warnings about not trying to open the escape hatch or the elevator doors if one is trapped in the elevator. Which makes me wonder what the point of having an escape hatch is.

Non sequitur: is there any chance your brother was walking around midtown NYC today (6/21) in a mullet wig while someone was videotaping him? It kind of looked like him, and the activity seemed consistent with both his personality and his profession, but I squandered the opportunity to ask, "Are you Wyeth Hansen?" by thinking about how embarrassing the scenario would be if it was some other hipster wearing a mullet wig while someone was videotaping him.

I would say the chances that was Wyeth are maybe 25-30%.
