Stuck in Big Sur

Because Highway 1 was closed, we got stuck in Big Sur overnight a couple weeks ago. Which wasn't so bad, because we ended up at the Ventana Inn, which was the only hotel in Big Sur with a front desk that was still open at 11pm (except for Post Ranch, of course).

Unpacking My Library

I am unpacking my library. Yes, I am. The books are not yet on the shelves, not touched by the mild boredom of order. (Benjamin, "Unpacking My Library") Heyerdahl and Homer in one of the "H" boxes, Schleiermacher and Schopenhauer in the "S' box. Opening these boxes immediately made my office smell like a used book store.
